Love in Tuscany

The second book in my billionaire romance series, Two Hearts and A Villa is about a romance author, Rose who visits Tuscany regarding the possible sale of her family villa. She later meets a property developer and love interest, Gianni.

Rose recently lost her great aunt who had lived in the villa, but selling it means the loss of memories and the sentimental value associated with it.

As she gets to know Gianni, past wounds threaten their relationship. She is afraid of loss, heartbreak, and instability due to the death of her father, Her exboyfriend cheated on her too. She craves security and stability.

Gianni cannot define his worth by what people think of him. Women do not get to know the real Gianni as a man but rather, view him as a billionaire with money and status. But he wants to be seen as a man with heart and emotions and not only as having riches. He wants to feel worthy and understood.

Gianni believes that women will leave him eventually, so he leaves them first. He pushes Rose away because if he doesn’t push her away, she’d stop being impressed by him. In his mind, she would not love him as he is and would eventually leave him.

Do they get their happily ever after when Rose lives in Australia and Gianni lives in Tuscany, Italy?

Excerpts

With a parched throat, Rose leaned forward, almost tripping over her suitcase when strong arms pulled her upright.

“Are you all right?”

She turned to her side and gasped. Holy hell! Where did this beautiful specimen come from?  The man flicked back his short, wavy, light brown hair featuring blonde highlights, and found herself drawn into his sea-blue eyes. Stubble over his chin and around his mouth enhanced his looks. His well-toned, muscled physique incited tingles in her chest. “Yeah, fine. Thanks.”

“Let me push this for you. Where would you like to go?”

Gianni put down the papers and grabbed his drink, taking a sip. The dryness of the wine relaxed him. “I met her yesterday.”

He tilted his head. “Who?”

“Rose.” He explained their encounter at the café. “I don’t think she’ll sell, but my dad’s pushing for it. What if I can’t convince her?”

Sergio sat beside him and submerged his legs in the water while gripping his wine glass. “So, you’re telling me you realized who she was and said nothing?”

Gianni felt a headache coming on. “She was so sentimental about the place, I felt bad. I didn’t think she’d want to sell. Maybe there’s another way.”

Rose nibbled on a strawberry. “How do you define love?”

He put out his hands. “It’s seeing someone across the room and your heart beats so fast you think you might die. It’s when your mouth runs dry, you cannot breathe, feeling as if your heart might stop. It’s when that person’s image flashes through your mind all day, you find it difficult to eat, sleep, drink, and focus on your work, making mistakes. Craving her smile, her voice, her touch, and even her witty comments, her enormous heart, and her love for all things, which is truly gut-wrenching. It’s when you yearn for her like your last breath and want to do more than just be friends. You wonder what it would be like to taste her lips or caress her from head to toe and never let her go.”

Rose gasped, her hands sweaty as she dropped the strawberry, their eyes meeting and lingering.
