Contemporary romance centres on the internal and external conflicts surrounding the prospective relationship, the major story focusing on the progression of the relationship.
Romance usually features challenges, emotions, and dynamics of modern love, making it relevant for readers who present with similar experiences in their own lives.
The genre thrives on authenticity, focusing on themes of connection, personal growth, and a multitude of complexities that love shows.
When you read books, you don’t want to be that woman who is dating that sexy alpha male. What you really want is to capture that feeling of being loved, cherished, adored, and wined and dined. You want to experience that excitement, increase of adrenaline, and joy.
In my books, I write to feel things, to be a particular character who can experience thrills, joy, love, and challenges. I like to write about sassy, strong, independent women who want to be loved but can stand on their own too.
Reading romance gives you an escape into fantasy, into respite from life’s problems, a way out of your routine which sometimes lacks excitement. You want to be wined and dined, pampered, cherished, and loved, and hopefully the book mirrors your real life. But reading these romantic stories, can arouse these same emotions in you, which is why you can become obsessed with them.
What are my Male Protagonists like in my stories?
In my stories, I like to write about men who are sexy, intelligent, strong, handsome, and virile, and can also be emotional as more time is spent with their love interest. Who doesn’t want to spend time with a man like that?
My billionaire contemporary romance novel, Risk To The Heart, is about Luca. Who owns a global design company and Dalia who secures a new job for the company.
Luca is arrogant and Dalia has a nurturing soul, proving that opposites do attract. Their wounded pasts come to light and results in conflict, obstacles, and a fear of commitment.
Here is the blurb:
Unlocking Love in the Workplace: A Story of Redemption and Ambition.
Dalia Bellizzi, a 29-year-old software engineer, secures a new job in her field, but never expected she’d be working for a man known for his icy exterior.
Luca Gallea, an entrepreneur with ambition to expand his design company on a global scale, has always kept his emotions under lock and key. Love was never a part of his journey to success, and he plans to keep it that way.
As Dalia and Luca draw closer together, their defences weaken due to an undeniable attraction. But can they overcome their wounded pasts to balance love and ambition?
If you like office romance that puts you on a roller coaster ride, you’ll love Risk To The Heart, the first book in Lucy Appadoo’s Billionaire Romance Series.
Excerpts:
1/“I am not afraid of anything, Mum, and you don’t know Dalia. She is quite passionate about this school because of her mother’s blindness. I thought she only saw me as the billionaire who could fulfil her dreams. I wondered whether she would look at me twice if I didn’t have money.”
She put an olive into her mouth and chewed. “I blame myself, darling.”
“For what?”
“For not standing up for you when your father put you down. For not realising that he was pushing you to breaking point, so much that it broke you and you did what anyone would do. You survived, and you pushed down your feelings, your heart. You were determined to thrive in business, but you suppressed your heart to prosper and feel better about yourself. Compensating for your low self-esteem.”
“It’s ludicrous. My self-esteem is fine as it is.”
“No, it’s not, because you believe that Dalia wouldn’t love you as you are, without your money.”
2/ The door swung open, and he entered behind her before she locked it from the inside. “How about that coffee? she asked.
He pushed her against the door, pulled back her hair and flicked his tongue inside her mouth, titillated by the taste of wine and mint on her breath. Her lips were smooth. He moaned with desire when she pulled away and led him to her bedroom.
